When Hurricane Helene struck, its force impacted countless lives across North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, and beyond. In the storm’s wake, many small towns and farms faced overwhelming devastation, often with limited access to traditional disaster relief. Moved by the need for long-term support, a group of friends joined forces to form the Fields of Support Foundation.

After Hurricane Helene devastated parts of North Carolina, a young mother and former CT resident in the affected area reached out to a friend back home, hoping for any support to save their farm and help neighboring farms that had been hit just as hard. Seeing the immediate need and the struggle these communities faced, a group of compassionate individuals from New England came together, determined to make a difference. That initial call for help sparked a movement, leading to our first relief haul and the founding of Fields of Support. Today, we continue providing long-term support to communities as they rebuild from the ground up.

FIRST HAUL | October 7- 10, 2024

Our first haul delivered more than 60,000 pounds of livestock feed, along with over 2,000 premium square bales and dozens of round bales to help struggling farms sustain their animals. The convoy also carried a wide range of emergency essentials — including generators, chainsaws, heaters, propane tanks, extension cords, clothing, and other critical supplies — all generously donated by residents and businesses across New England.
Thanks to the tireless efforts of our volunteer drivers and the overwhelming generosity of hundreds of donors, these supplies reached affected communities within a week of the hurricane, providing immediate relief to farms and families in crisis. This initial haul marked the beginning of the Fields of Support Foundation’s mission to stand by these communities through every stage of recovery.

SECOND HAUL | October 21- 24, 2024

As awareness of our mission has grown, so has our commitment to supporting communities impacted by Hurricane Helene. From October 21st to 24th, the Fields of Support Foundation organized its second major relief haul, transporting a vast range of essential resources to affected areas across the region. This convoy delivered livestock feed, round and square bales, high-quality Timothy hay, generators, and other emergency supplies, all vital for helping farms and small towns recover and rebuild.
Fueled by the dedication of our volunteers and the generosity of supporters across New England, this second haul strengthened our long-term commitment to sustaining communities beyond the initial wave of disaster relief. As our mission continues to grow, we remain focused on ensuring that those impacted by the hurricane receive consistent, dependable support through every stage of recovery.

Thirds and Fourth Hauls November - December 2024!

During our third and fourth relief convoys in November and December 2024, the Fields of Support Foundation continued to provide critical supplies to families, farms, and animals impacted by the storm across western North Carolina.

Personal donations and items from our Amazon Wish List were still being sent directly to Bakersville, though postal delays continued due to challenging road conditions in the mountain areas. Despite these obstacles, we successfully transported additional emergency gear, feed, and essential items into the region.

During this phase, Fields of Support Foundation and Roan Mountain Drafts, partnered with Fleet of Angels and Red Bell Run to expand our operations and establish a Spruce Pine Satellite Hay Bank—a temporary distribution hub that allowed us to reach even more families and animals in need.

Through this collaborative effort, we distributed hay, livestock feed, dog food, cat food, and essential farm supplies throughout the area. These partnerships have been instrumental in extending long-term recovery support to the rural communities most affected by the disaster.

Our work in the region continues, and we invite you to follow updates here as we prepare for the next wave of relief and rebuilding efforts.
